In an effort to continue the great success of our Composting/Recycling program, please try to follow the listed suggestions when purchasing items for events, gatherings, and parties. These tips will reduce our trash output.

CUPS- Buy paper cups – they are compostable. Most plastic cups are not even recyclable.

PLATES- Buy non-coated paper plates - they are compostable. Plastic plates are not recyclable.

UTENSILS-Use Cedar Grove approved compostable utensils or silverware. If needed buy bamboo, wood, corn or potato based utensils that can be composted. Plastic utensils are NOT recyclable.

NAPKINS- Purchase napkins made with recycled materials. Paper napkins are compostable.

TABLECLOTHES- Buy paper table clothes because they can be composted. Plastic lined table clothes are trash and not recyclable.

SERVING BOWLS- Use SJCC bowls, bring from home or consider purchasing reusable bowls. If this is not an options look for the plastic recycle triangle on the bottom so they can be recycled.

SERVING UTENSILS- Use SJCC serving utensils, bring from home, purchase reusable or items with the plastic recycle triangle on the bottom so they can be recycled.

DECOARTIONS- Rather than buying unrecyclable balloons, choose reusable decorations or paper colored streamers which can be recycled or composted.

COFFEE STIRRERS – Use wooden stir sticks for coffee (they can be composted).
